Last week, we wrapped up our first Groups Plus session. After six months together, I felt so proud of how far each of the nine women in the group had come.
I am proud of S (first initials only for obvious reasons!) for learning how to focus on sales and evaluate opportunities before saying yes. I am proud of M for understanding how to use and manage a cash flow projection model. I am proud of E for her perseverance and ability to pivot the business while keeping a sense of humor. And who wouldn’t be proud of K, who’s running a thriving business, preparing to launch a whole new one this Fall, and is somehow keeping her sense of “overwhelm” in check.
All of these women walked into Groups Plus saying, “There’s never enough time” and walked out understanding there is time … for what matters now and there will never be time for what doesn’t matter at all.
But there is one woman in particular of whom I am particularly proud, and I want you to know why.
I am especially proud of S. She came to us with a business she loved but that wasn’t financially successful, a business she wanted to grow but needed to fix first. I was stunned by how hard and how fast she worked.
S made the boldest moves to turn that business around. She listened and made changes. She was brave in ways I have never seen. She cut back on costs, and then she cut again. She had really hard conversations with her staff and learned to delegate so that she could focus on the areas she needed to be working on. She not only turned that business around, but she managed to do it with kindness and firmness.
I am so proud of this woman who leads with courage to achieve her vision. Nothing will stop her from succeeding. And while she may not have been in the best position when she first walked in, six months later, she is a woman with a business that is on a path to success thanks to her commitment to make tough changes.
So, what did I learn from these nine women? The harder you are willing to work and the more committed you are to learning and pushing through tough times, the more successful you will be.
You go, girls! Take on the world, because nothing can stop you now.
