Make This The Year Of Team Care
In case you missed it, it turns out that women lost all of the jobs last month. That’s right, you read that correctly. Yes, men lost jobs too, but when you add up the jobs lost and added, men added enough jobs to their total to cover their losses. Not so for women. We accounted for all 140,000 jobs lost in December. Holy %$#@!!!!
So what does this mean for us? For women who own their own businesses? One thing it means is that we have to manage perceptions carefully. Our clients are watching us, trying to figure out if we are going to be one of those women who, through no fault of our own, throws in the towel. Maybe the demands of homeschooling are just too much. Maybe the uncertainty of running our own business is too much and we need a more stable income.
Whatever the reason, and there are many good ones, clients will be watching and wondering: will you be sticking it out?
Here’s how we can get ahead of this while also doing the right thing.
It is up to us to acknowledge the elephant in the room with our clients and let them know we aren’t going anywhere. Not only that, but we are going to do whatever it takes to survive.
Let’s make 2021 the year of taking care of ourselves and our team so that we make sure our businesses not only survive, but thrive in this climate.
That is what is required to mentally and emotionally get through this challenging time. Don’t be afraid to talk about the steps you are taking to strengthen the foundations of your business. Share how you are supporting your team, whether that means adding flexibility to the schedule or more professional development, whatever you are doing to make sure your team is focused and able to deliver on what you promise to clients.
