Letting Go So You Can Live The Life You Want
A few months ago I wrote about the single hardest question our members have to address when they start our Accelerator programs. And in that piece, I shared that while many think that the biggest challenge is coming up with business vision and strategy, in fact, the hardest question is defining what you want your life to look like, and then building your business around that.
Recently I was bowled over by a woman who surprised us all. After 14 years owning and running a successful business, she sold it and walked away.
Why? Because it no longer aligned with what she wanted her life to look like.
But the real reason I was bowled over was not because she had sold her business, (because, really, that’s just a transaction,) but because so few women actually have the courage to do what she did. And in doing so, she was showing the rest of us how to manifest living the life you want.
For over 14 years, Aviva Goldfarb built and ran a company called The Six O’Clock Scramble, which provides meal planning made simple for busy parents asking themselves “What’s for dinner?’
But, as she recently shared in her announcement, “As Andrew and I near a change in life without either of our kids at home . . , I yearn to shift my focus to other personal and professional pursuits.”
It takes courage to change your life. It takes enormous courage to walk away from the comforts you’ve grown accustomed to and your comfortable routines.
It’s brave, and it’s hard.
But even more than that, it’s inspiring.
By having the courage to change course, sell her company, and pursue new adventures, Aviva has given so many women, myself included, a gift: the opportunity to be inspired to aspire to live the life we want to live.
